Every drum has a story — and this one does too.

Francis spotted a stack of ash planks not far from the shop and asked the owner what he planned to do with them. The man, a local farmer, had cut the tree himself and milled beautiful boards… but had no real use for the wood. Francis bought the planks, let them air-dry outside for a full year, then stacked them in the shop for another year and a half before finally building this beauty.

See this drum? It kind of looks like an ashiko or a bougarabou. You might be thinking: “Cute little drum… but really?”

Before passing it over, here are a few things to consider.

First — no drum leaves the MOPERC shop without sounding uncompromisingly pure, and Bingba is no exception. Surprisingly deep, sustained bass notes combine with pronounced slaps and open tones to establish its rhythmic authority.
