At MOPERC, we believe a great bongo starts with great sound, not just appearance.

Over the years, bongo designs have evolved, often prioritizing modern looks over sound projection. We've taken a different approach: preserving the traditional cylindrical shape that gives Cuban bongos their powerful projection, while refining every detail through decades of craftsmanship and innovation.

The result? A handcrafted bongo that combines tradition, exceptional sound, comfort, and durability.

Your Wood. Your Sound.

Wood selection is an essential part of the MOPERC experience. All our bongo models share the same fundamental sound characteristics, regardless of their design or appearance. It's the choice of wood that makes the difference in tone, from warm, mellow sounds to bright, crisp articulation. Each hardwood brings its own unique character, allowing you to personalize your sound while enjoying the same MOPERC quality, projection, and craftsmanship.

Available woods include:

  • Brazilian Mahogany – Warm, rich, and rounded tones.
  • American Black Walnut – Deep, smooth, and balanced.
  • Ash – Resonant, lively, and versatile.
  • Maple – Bright, crisp, and highly articulate.
  • Red Oak – Strong projection with a distinctive character.
  • Padauk – Dense, powerful, and vibrant.

We also offer two-tone wood combinations, allowing you to create a unique look and explore different tonal possibilities.

Endless Possibilities. One-of-a-Kind Bongos.

ANTHONY CARRILLO SIGNATURE SERIES

Anthony Carrillo is an exceptional, some might say “otherworldly,” musician who recently stepped up to the exceptionally pure sound of MOPERC. So, we thought it would be great, after Anthony’s long career, to give him the honor he deserves with a bongo series bearing his name!

The Anthony Carrillo bongo, in ash, with deep blue stain, consists of a 7” macho and a 9” hembra, each highlighted by a center band and new groove design. And how these drums speak! Loudly or at a whisper, their clarity and tone are undeniable. Though Anthony’s talent may be otherworldly, you don’t need to leave the planet to get his drums, just order them from MOPERC and have them delivered in a few weeks.
